Welcome to The South Pennines

South Pennines Walk And Ride Festival 2009

Our second Walk and Ride Festival promises to be another great event in the UK outdoors calendar, establishing the South Pennines as an area that can match many better known areas when it comes to stunning scenery and outdoor activity. Moreover, our excellent public transport means that everyone can enjoy the countryside and leave their car at home.

The programme for this year, again, offers something for everyone – short, medium and long walks, various cycle rides and, new to this year’s programme, some horse rides. There are also interpretive walks, talks and themed events, focusing on special aspects of South Pennines life and landscape – social and industrial history, transport, literature and the environment.

Other than a few events for which there is a charge (see event details), events are free – just turn up (unless booking requirement is stated), we look forward to meeting you. Enjoy!
